WORK PACKAGE 3:Global Attractiveness

REPORT ON THE GLOBAL ATTRACTIVENESS OF ALREADY EXISTING EUROPEAN JOINT DEGREES

This report reflects on the motivations driving students and alumni to enrol in joint degree programmes within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), as well as the perceptions of employers regarding these programmes.

Following an extensive desk research two surveys were designed and implemented and in-depth interviews were conducted. The first survey, directed at students and alumni of Joint Programmes, aimed to understand the factors influencing their decision to pursue such programs in the EHEA. Key findings revealed that joint programs offer diverse academic environments, internationally developed curricula, and valuable international experiences, despite encountering constraints such as bureaucratic hurdles and limited support between participating universities.

The second survey aimed to assess employers' perceptions of the value added by Joint Programmes in candidates' curricula. Results indicated that employers recognize the benefits of international experiences and prioritize soft skills like adaptability and intercultural awareness, reflecting the growing importance of global competencies in the workplace.

In-depth interviews reveal that employers prioritize candidates' global experience and competencies over obtaining a joint programme diploma.
